ISSUE 5: AURORA
Dear Readers,
After many months of reading, compiling, and juggling responsibilities beyond the literary magazine, we present to you: Aurora. In our fifth and first issue of 2025, we sought out stories commemorating the past while celebrating fresh opportunities of growth and renewal in the new year.
We hope that while you are reading, you envision the Aurora Borealis. While the lights are never directly mentioned in these works, many revolve around the idea of sending messages of love and guidance—a spiritual resemblance of the lights. In this issue, the sky is a place for exploration of the past, as seen from Sophie Cornwell’s Big Dipper, Little Sister where the moon is a “misshapen milk stain smeared across a dark slate of sky” to Lara Chamoun’s A Happy Poem where “I held the sky in like it had swallowed me whole.” We continue to encourage you to reflect on your past through the lens of the things you find valuable—whether you start from the lights, sky, photographs, etc. We hope you seek your inspirations through Aurora. Thank you so so much for your support in Fleeting Daze Magazine through the new year.
With lots of love,
Rosie Hong and Caroline Zhang
